The Loo is one of Sydney's most layered postcodes. You've got the historic navy housing climbing the hill toward Potts Point, the finger wharf apartments on the water, and a wide band of social and public housing through the middle of the suburb. The wiring tells the same story. Mid-century cloth-insulated runs sitting next to brand-new luxury fit-outs, sometimes on the same street.

Most of the calls we get out of 2011 are about ageing infrastructure. Switchboards that still carry rewireable ceramic fuses, lighting circuits running on TPS that has gone brittle, and meter boxes shared across multiple flats in a converted terrace. None of that is unusual for the area, but it does mean a quick fix isn't always the right answer. We scope the whole circuit before we touch anything live.
