Coogee is tight. The blocks are smaller than in Maroubra, the houses are closer together, and a lot of the original Federation terraces have been carved into apartments over the decades. That mix means a Coogee electrical job can look completely different from one street to the next, which is why we always scope properly before we quote.

The most common work we get called for here is lighting and cooling-load upgrades. The summer crowd that pours into the bay puts pressure on the cafes, restaurants, and short-stay rentals along the strip, which means commercial fit-outs, three-phase upgrades, and air conditioning circuits. We also see a steady run of downlight retrofits in the older homes, where the original incandescent or halogen fittings are tired and the ceiling space is too shallow for anything but a properly specced LED.

Coogee's terrace stock brings its own challenges. Many of the houses have had multiple rounds of renovation over the years and the wiring layout often reflects that. We've pulled out junction boxes hidden behind plaster, found old VIR cable still in service, and traced circuits that ran through three different generations of switchboard. None of that is unusual for the area, but it does mean we test before we touch anything and we don't quote off a phone description alone.

For hospitality clients we work around trade. Most fit-out and compliance work is scheduled overnight or early morning so service isn't disrupted. If you run a venue on the foreshore and you need a tag-and-test or a kitchen exhaust circuit fixed, we'll find a window that doesn't cost you a shift.
